10 Worst Doctor Who Villains

8. Harvest Rangers

Doctor Who
BBC

The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe. Such a wasted opportunity on the part of Steven Moffat. What could've been a fun take on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, similar to what Moffat did with A Christmas Carol a year prior, quickly divulged into a travesty of a story. Its opening scene promises a thrilling adventure, but then immediately throws all that away to tell a bland narrative instead.

I actually don't mind the Arwell family, and felt the emotional baggage on Madge's shoulders. Disappointingly, everything falls apart once they go to the Christmas Tree planet, which you'd assume would be the main highlight. Then, of course, you await for the villains to arrive. Naturally, you assume it'll be the creepy looking Wooden King and Queen. But nope. It's actually the Harvest Rangers, who do absolutely nothing, and are easily captured by Madge, who fools them with her fake crying.

This sequence is utterly baffling, and is some of the worst example of Moffat trying to force in comedy. What's worse is he's wasting the comedic talents of Bill Bailey for crying out loud. Seriously, what's with Doctor Who in wasting comedians? Okay, it's only happened a couple of times, but still. The only reason these three dumb, pathetic characters are deemed villains is because they're preparing to harvest the forest. Poor attempt at environmental messaging?
