10 Worst Episodes In The Stargate Franchise
6. Unending - Stargate SG-1
After ten years on the air. Stargate SG-1 was officially cancelled. To mark such a momentous occasion, you would expect the writers to go in the direction of something dynamic. However, instead we got Unending.
With the repository of their knowledge loaded into its data banks, the Odyssey witnesses the collective suicide of The Asgard race due to their genetic degradation, and mankind is officially dubbed The Fifth Race. Without even time to mourn for Thor and his people, the ship comes under fire from Ori motherships. Unable to flee and seeing no way out, Carter creates a time dilation field around the ship, giving her time to come up with a solution.
Time, it turns out, would be something the team would have in huge supply, as Carter spends the next fifty years trying to find a solution as the remainder of the cast go slowly mad, montage style, with the isolation of decades spent in space.
Although Carter does indeed find a solution for the team to reverse time and escape, many fans were left feeling that this was not the glorious send off that their much beloved show deserved. It's not a bad episode per-se, but with ten years of history you'd at least expect an O'Neill cameo.
