10 Worst Episodes In The Stargate Franchise
4. Inquisition - Stargate Atlantis
A misstep repeated year in year, out in television is that of the clip show., basically announcing to the audience that you've run out of ideas with a flimsy framing device surrounding archive footage of past episodes. For all its glories, Stargate Atlantis was not immune to this, and thus we have Inquisition.
Arriving on an alien world at the behest of a newly formed Coalition of Planets, Sheppard and his team step through the Gate expecting to band together with other worlds to stop The Wraith. Instead, they find themselves on trial for the death and devastation they have wrought upon The Pegasus Galaxy including, but not limited to; waking The Wraith, betraying The Genii, creating Michael and therefore the existence of his Hybrids, helping to develop The Hoffan plague and (inadvertently) programming The Asurans to attack The Wraith by destroying the humans they feed upon.
Whilst the team are indeed found innocent, despite everything The Coalition says being largely correct, this follows a protracted and dialogue heavy episode which is largely bulked out with clips from previous, better, adventures. No clip show in the history of television has ever been well received, and that wasn't about to change here.
