10 Worst How I Met Your Mother Episodes
6. Mom And Dad
The change of
scenery previously mentioned is something fans aren’t too comfortable with
in How I Met Your Mother. Perhaps it was Season 9's greatest downfall, setting
it away from where we know – well, that and the poor writing.
The entire season was supposed to focus on the wedding; however it seems impossible to stretch a single event, however monumental, into 24 episodes. So, of course, amidst the wedding planning, there are episodes such as these which are clearly there only for filler content. One thing people like to see in shows like this is continuity, and it’s something this episode has none of.
Other than the continued journey seen with Marshall and Daphne, this episode doesn’t move the story along at all, instead having Barney revert to being childish as he tries to get his mother and father back together.
And even if you're used to Barney being childish by this point, his brother James is along for the ride this time as the two build up a great deal of sibling rivalry in seeing which of their fathers they can hook their mother up with.
