10 Worst Simpsons Episodes From The Best Seasons
1. Homerpalooza - Season 7
Here’s one episode which you’d imagine to see around the season 11-14 era of The Simpsons, not during the show’s prime. Homerpalooza is just incredibly mediocre on every level. The character writing is uninspired, the humour is flat, there’s nothing interesting to take away from the conclusion and it’s ultimately weighed down by a weak storyline.
Homer goes through a midlife crisis after realising the music he listened to in his youth is no longer cool. In an attempt to impress his kids, he takes them to a Hullabalooza music festival where they remain unimpressed. Failing that, he starts a ruckus in the crowds and ends up being shot in the stomach by a cannonball, entertaining the crowds and starting a new career in a freak show.
That’s it, that’s the plot.
In a paradox, the episode somehow has a silly, outlandish plot that is played out with no excitement. It is also an early example of too many celebrity cameos used just for the sake of it. Featuring the band members The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill, the voice acting of the guest stars is wooden and forced.
We love The Simpsons for their heartwarming family moments and well written humour. Homerpalooza offers you neither.
