10 Worst South Park Episodes
2. Going Native
A Butters and Kenny centric episode on paper sounds terrific. But sadly, this pairing was robbed of the chance to score some real laughs as this Hawaiian tourist parody misses the mark at every opportunity. It's a frustratingly dull episode that centres on one joke throughout its runtime, and sadly it's never more amusing than the first time you hear it.
After finding out that his family are "natives" of the beach paradise Hawaii, he ventures to the island in order to participate in a coming of age ceremony known as hapanoa. The residents of this holiday town who claim to be natives are simply Americans with timeshares. It milks this parody of tourism and cultural co-opting as much as possible, but the concept really isn't too amusing.
Additionally, it strays far too distant from the show's characters, with Butters and Kenny being our only connection to the snowy Colorado town. This makes the episode an incredibly dull affair and doesn't give any development for Butters despite his central position, and supposed lesson.
