3. Terrance And Phillip In Not Without My Anus
Matt Stone and Trey Parker attain a lot of their humour from messing with the audience, and the biggest prank that they have ever pulled on their viewers has to be this episode. But once the dust has settled and the joke of its presentation is over, all audiences are left with is a dire outing focussed entirely on T&P.
South Park's first season ended with the hilarious episode Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut. This outing had a thoroughly intense cliff-hanger ending, with Dr Mephisto on the cusp of revealing the identity of Cartman's father. The second season began not with an answer to the previous season's climax, but a TV special of T&P with absolutely no mention of the real show. Nowadays, the prank hurts less, as viewers can skip through to the next title, but it was painful in the days of televised weekly episodes.
The chapter itself is utterly frustrating to watch since it's filled to the brim with childish fart jokes and tasteless humour - as it to be expected with T&P. It also has a minimal narrative to speak of. It was a great prank, but an awful episode to be stuck with.
