10 Worst Star Trek: Next Generation Episodes
8. Aquiel (Season 6 Episode 13)
Star Trek: The Next Generation goes from Sci-Fi exploration to murder mystery in this episode titled Aquiel. In the midst of the investigations, the Klingons burst onto the scene and a young lieutenant named Acquiel takes Geordi's eye (heh).
Why It Sucks: Geordi is super creepy in this episode. He really is. LeVar Burton seems like such a smooth, charming person in real life and watching Geordi hopelessly lust over lieutenant Acquiel is more embarrassing and poorly written than endearing.
What's worse is, this isn't the first time the writers decided to go with the idea that Geordi is some sort of horny love hound as it is extremely similar to the episode Galaxy's Child where he falls in love with a hologram. If this were just a small part to the main story, it wouldn't have bothered me so much but the fact that it runs through the entire episode makes it a painful watch.
What Doesn't Suck: The suspense built throughout the episode is masterfully done to be fair and the entire episode feels like a homage to The Thing. Just with more stalking and a terrible CGI slug alien at the end.
