3. She’s A Poser
Lisa talks a good game but only acts on it sporadically. Lisa The Tree Hugger, way back in Season 12, is probably the most recent example of her following through on her ideals in a big way.
Arguably The Squirt And The Whale too, but that’s less her following through on her ideals of social justice and more showing her sensitive side.
There are a few more modern examples, but they’re all either Lisa being mean or taking her cause so over the top that it loses all meaning.
Worse, she’s often a parody of herself, pulling down those who do let their actions speak louder than their shrill, irritating words because of her own insecurities.
Season 30’s Bart Vs. Itchy & Scratchy is a perfect example. Bart boycotts a female Itchy & Scratchy, but watches accidentally and laughs. Bart falls out of favour with his old friends, but joins a Pussy Riot style female protest group.
He takes up one of Lisa’s causes, but rather than celebrate this, she derides him for not doing it properly and that she should be the one doing it... so why doesn’t she?
The episode itself manages to misrepresent both points of view of feminism too.
