10 Worst TV Performances Of 2016

1. Ptolemy Slocum & Leonardo Nam - The Lab Technicians (Westworld)

Worst TV Performances 2016
HBO

So much about Westworld is brilliant. For a moment it seemed like the show might be on the edge of a precipice, at risk of falling into a deep and unending canyon of mystery and unanswered questions. But then the finale aired, and it cleared up a massive number of huge questions and streamlined the central narrative in time for season two.

But, as I mentioned at the beginning of this article, not everything about the show is perfect. And by far the biggest sin is the two lab technicians, Ptolemy Slocum's Sylvester (the bearded one) and Leonardo Nam's Felix Lutz (the one without the beard). These two performances are a huge dampener on a show which otherwise has a host (geddit? hahaha) of great performances.

Slocum's Sylvester is the least offensive of the two. After all, this article isn't about story issues, it's about performances. But Sylvester is incredibly one-note, feigning outrage every time he appears on-screen without ever actually developing across the entire season. This pales in comparison to Felix, however, whose whole performance boils down to staring, mouth agape, at Thandie Newton's Maeve. On the off chance he actually says anything, it's as stilted and robotic as a non-functioning host.

In the words of Maeve Millay, Felix truly does make a terrible human being.
