8. Drew Barrymore - Santa Clarita Diet

Drew Barrymore is not an easy actress to dislike, but if Netflix's gory horror-satire works at all, it's certainly not because of her oddly one-note performance.

Santa Clarita Diet is an uneven but entertaining series propelled by Timothy Olyphant's typically excellent performance as an incredulous husband trying to deal with a most absurd twist of fate.

Barrymore, meanwhile, plays things extremely broad, never once venturing outside her sweetly wacky wheelhouse, which given the promising material and how rarely she plays against-type, is massively disappointing.

This is basically your typical Barrymore performance with a simple horror-comedy spicing over the top. Whereas Olyphant gives a legitimately compelling, even transformative performance, Barrymore plays it eye-rollingly safe for the most part.
