10 Worst TV Shows Of 2022

5. Stay Close

She Hulk
Netflix

Stay Close, based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name, has plenty going for it, particularly in its engaging premiere and often fine performances, but it's also so formulaic and uninventive it feels like a waste of time once you're finished.

Like many Netflix mystery thrillers, Stay Close is irritatingly by-the-numbers and obvious, diluting Harlan Coben's distinct and engaging style into a dull tapestry of clichés, unearned resolutions, and twists for the sake of it.

It's not the worst offender Netflix has made in its genre, but it's definitely the weakest made this year, made to be inoffensively played in the background whilst you play on your phone and cook dinner. Which may sound harsh, but watch it and I promise you won't be able to name any of the characters.

Laboriously paced and uncertain, Stay Close is neither terrible nor good, but is ultimately the worst thing any TV show can be -- completely and utterly forgettable.
