10 WTF Moments From Japan's Most Insane Reality Show
9. He Nearly Starved
After being brought to a strange and unknown location and stripped naked, Nasubi was finally told what the show he was just hired for was actually about. He would be tasked with living completely off of contest winnings with no human contact of any kind outside of deliveries and phone calls to his contest phone until he successfully won ten thousand dollars worth of prizes. A mentioned, the only things he was supplied with were the things needed to enter contests, along with running water, a stove and a toilet. The reason his clothes were taken was because it was decided he could only wear things that he won. You might have noticed that something very important was missing from that list of necessities he was given. Food. From day one, Nasubi had nothing to eat. Not realizing the desperation of his situation just yet, he opted to enter contests for clothing items to cover himself up instead of seeking out as many food related contests as possible in an effort to not starve to death. After six days without eating, he finally started to break down and complain to the camera in his room about how hungry he was. Unfortunately for him, he wouldn't win any prizes for the tail end of January, and was well into February when he finally got his first contest win in the mail: a box containing twelve flavors of jelly. This was only after he sent out over five thousand postcards to different contests around the country. His luck was short lived however, as the only food to follow for the next week and a half came in the form of a ramen delivery service coming to the wrong address. The savory smell of the freshly cooked food brought Nasubi's morale down lower than ever before, but then luck took pity on him in the form of a five kilogram bag of rice in the mail. Nasubi finally had something real to eat, only there was a catch. He had not won any dishes and thus had nothing to cook the rice in. After days of trial and error, Nasubi successfully cooked a small amount of rice in one of his discarded jelly containers. This was his first real meal in nearly a month, and it clearly showed.
