10 WTF TV Episodes That Came Totally Out Of Nowhere

7. "Exposé" - Lost

Breaking Bad Fly Bryan Cranston Aaron Paul

Lost's third season introduced the characters of Nikki (Kiele Sanchez) and Paulo (Rodrigo Santoro) in an attempt to chronicle what the unseen survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were up to on the island.

Unfortunately fans quickly turned on the pair for their incessant bickering and obnoxious personas, resulting in the infamous mid-season episode "Exposé," devoted almost entirely to killing them off.

The episode features little of the main cast and does virtually nothing to move the main story on, focused instead on fleshing out Nikki and Paulo's backstories before they're placed on the chopping block at episode's end.

And their dual demise was certainly engineered for maximum fan satisfaction, as the two end up dying after their mutual distrust causes them both to be paralysed by venomous spiders. This results in the other survivors mistaking them for dead and then burying them alive.

While there's no fan consensus on the entirety of the episode - some viewing it as a waste of time while others felt the outrageous ending made it worthwhile - it's certainly Lost's most oddball hour.
