11 Annoying Mistakes You Never Noticed In Game Of Thrones

6. Winterfell Is Left Undefended

HBO

Robb 'King in the North'€ Stark is many things, but stupid isn€™'t one of them. His attack of the Lannister armies in defence of his father€™'s beheading is meticulously mapped out. And yet he leaves his two brothers - heirs, and the only people who can carry on the Stark name should he die - completely undefended.

Theon takes his chance of revenge and takes over Winterfell. He somehow manages to do so with only a handful of men and yet the residents of Winterfell cannot fight back. But it gets even more implausible. Theon and his men have just risked their lives, and the lives of their family, to take control of Winterfell. So surely they would do anything to maintain the castle and their valuable hostages. Except that Theon is easily seduced by Osha and Drennan is easily murdered.

Surely Theon would have had guards stationed outside of his room day and night, considering he is the leader of the attack. It gets worse. Bran and Rickon swiftly make their escape, somehow double back on themselves without Theon€™'s men following him (wait, if they€™'re out there looking for Bran and Rickon, who controls Winterfell?), sneak back into the castle and hide. And later Osha sneaks back out to steal scraps of bread to feed the children. She is a seasoned warrior and one of the wildlings beyond the wall so surely she would he adept at stalking fauna and ensuring she remains hidden at all times.

Yet an old man is able to spot her and follow her back to her hiding place without her knowledge whilst a dozen young men armed with weapons completely miss her. Either Osha is incredible at hiding from young men (but not older ones), or Theon made a big mistake with the men he had. But what€™'s more, Theon is able to take control of Winterfell with only a handful of men, and yet he completely fails in defending it from Ramsay Snow. Someone is clearly overcompensating.
