Ever since their illicit hookup resulted in the conception of a child, Bennett and Daya have had a pretty solid relationship, despite the fact that they shouldn't even be able to given their respective positions at the prison. 

It has even been able to survive the tension created by the false rape charge against Mendez in addition to a host of other issues that would have broken any other couple.

Despite all of that, the show has foreshadowed a small tendency on Bennett's part to struggle to commit to various aspects of the relationship, though he always managed to come through in the end. Early in the season he even proposes to Daya with a paper ring to seal the deal.

At least that was until he pays a visit to Cesar in an effort to bond with Daya's extended family. Whether it was seeing the way Cesar handles his own children or his fear simply getting the best of him, the last we see of Bennett is a dumped crib on the side of the road as he speeds off into the distance.
