11 Characters Who Will Probably Die In 2017's Biggest TV Shows

1. Cersei Lannister - Game Of Thrones

Why She'll Die

By taking the Iron Throne, Cersei cemented herself in Westeros' most powerful seat - but also painted a huge target on her back. The Lannisters have very few friends these days, with the Starks controlling the North and Daenerys, Tyrion, a bunch of dragons, and revenge-bent Houses Martell and Tyrell coming from across the Narrow Sea. And that's not to mention the threat right in front of her face: Jaime, who won't be happy to see his sister/lover become the Mad Queen.

There's also the endgame to consider. This is the penultimate season, and it's building towards a battle with the White Walkers - a storyline that Cersei would appear to have no real part in.

How It'll Happen

Daenerys and one of her dragons would be fun to watch, while Tyrion doing it would be sweet. But this is Jaime's kill.

"...And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

There's some wiggle room in the translation of valonqar - High Valyrian doesn't account for gender - but he is still the likeliest candidate. Jaime sacrificed his reputation to save King's Landing from the Mad King, only for Cersei - the woman he loves, mother of their now-dead children - carry out his plans. As she further decends into madness, he'll have no choice but to repeat the past. Redemption has always been the point of his arc - that, and an air of tragedy - and this fits both; him choking her to death to stop her committing more murders would be hugely powerful and poetic.
