Ida Lupino is an aging film star, who is unable to adapt to modern life, and the passage of time, and so lives vicariously through her movies from the 1930s until she finally disappears into one of them.

HOW COLORIZATION COULD HELP: Although Ida is the main character, the story is not really told through her eyes, but through the eyes of her agent, Martin Balsam, who tries to undo what is happening to her. So, colorize all of the present day scenes, to make the present look as vivid, real and immediate to us (the way Balsam sees it), and leave Ida’s films and eventual retreat into them in black and white.
