11 Famous Faces You Never Knew Were Doctor Who Fans

10. Patrick Stewart

It's hardly surprising that Sir Patrick Stewart, who is universally adored for his portrayal of cult legend Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, likes to indulge in the timey-wimey escapades of a fellow space traveller (he just cannot get enough, can he?), and fans can now even get the best of both worlds as the two iconic characters have joined forces in a crossover comic series which was bound to happen eventually. It's canon if you want it to be. As one of the most prominent figures in sci-fi history, though, Stewart has inevitably been in the running to take on the role of the titular Time Lord over the years but most recently he was rumoured to be reprising the role of the show's Meddling Monk in an adventure alongside Tenth Doctor David Tennant. How could would that have been!? It would've continued their working relationship too, after they appeared on stage together in the Royal Shakespeare Company's critically acclaimed production of Hamlet in 2008. After the play was adapted for TV in 2009 it was evident that David and Patrick's on screen chemistry was a match made in heaven and fans would have surely revelled in the opportunity to see that crossover into the realms of Doctor Who. Timing has never been the Doctor's strong point, though, and by this point David was preparing to leave the wonders of the TARDIS behind. Stewart has subsequently admitted that "the ship has probably sailed" on his Doctor Who guest stint now that his Hamlet co-star is no longer serving as the universe's most coveted defender. Damn. Gallifrey's on its way back, though, so perhaps Patrick could take on the role of another Time Lord? He's certainly got the demeanour for it.
