11 Geeky Facts About The Big Bang Theory You Didn't Know

11. Jim Parsons Has Never Seen An Episode Of Star Trek

Sheldon Cooper is a hopeless Trekkie. One of his solutions for a nasty tiff with Amy Farrah Fowler was to buy her the entire series boxset to win her back (he was unsuccessful). He lets the wisdom of Spock guide him when faced with difficult decisions or situations; in the episode 'The Transporter Malfunction,' which guest stars Leonard Nimoy, he even envisions a tiny Spock figurine coming to life as his conscience when he breaks his Star Trek transporter toy - and then swaps it with Leonard's. Tsk. However, the actor behind Sheldon isn't such a fan. Jim Parsons admitted in a 10 Questions interview with Time that, although he loves playing Sheldon, he is very unlike his character: "I'm very frank about certain things, I get asked a lot of science things and I'm like, "you're kidding." And even the pop culture... I've never seen Star Trek. I don't know Doctor Who." Even if he hasn't ever seen it, we bet he's a fountain of knowledge on the subject nonetheless purely from learning Sheldon's lines (and probably a decent speaker of Klingon to boot)...
