The identity of Skyes parents was a big mystery hanging over the first season, and the show finally delivered some answers this year. Her father was a surgeon to the underworld, one with great knowledge of the Obelisk, or the Diviner, the object that is hugely connected to the Inhumans. Part of him simply wants to reconnect with his daughter, but the other is filled with an almost uncontrollable rage, and both sides come into constant conflict with Agent Coulson. Jiaying, her mother, was an Inhuman, and helped others who were newly exposed to the Terrigen Mists - like Skye and Raina - come to terms with their new abilities. While it is initially Skyes father, later revealed to be comics character Calvin Zabo/Mr Hyde, who seems set to be the major villain for the back-half of season 2, it is actually slowly revealed that its Jiaying who is the true main antagonist, and one who wants to start a war between the Inhumans and not just S.H.I.E.L.D but all of earth. The two balance out extremely well, with the more over-the-top, almost cartoonish villainy of Calvin contrasted with the cold and calculating Jiaying, and both prove to be excellent villains in their own way.
