Not many knew what to expect when Fox announced plans to branch their X-Men universe into TV, but with Legion now a critical hit, it's safe to say those expectations have risen through the roof.
Focussing on Professor X's son, David Haller, as he navigates what appears to be an average psychiatric facility, the show earned plaudits for its cast, script and story. It's by far the most intelligent use of the X-Men license that we've seen yet, and while The Gifted is certainly giving it a run for its money, there's no denying everyone is desperate to see what's next in store for the world's most powerful mutant, given the first season's climax.
Noah Hawley can do no wrong at the moment, having presided over a fantastic adaptation of Fargo and signed on to direct a Doctor Doom origin movie, so it stands to reason that the second season will be just as good as the original. Audiences won't have to wait long to find out in any case, with season 2 dropping in April, so at least there's that.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
