9. The Deceiving Goodbyes
Rose Tyler died - figuratively, of course - in the fateful battle at Canary Wharf, where an army of ghosts solidified into a formidable foe. She restituted the crumbling barriers between universes, but at a grave price. Well, not exactly. It is true that Rose sacrificed her beloved Doctor and her exhilarating life as a time traveller, but not for long. All too soon, the words "Bad Wolf" were scribbled across our screens yet again and Rose defied the seemingly incorrigible laws of the universe as well as the writers' better judgment. One moment she was desperately confessing her love to a teary-eyed Tenth Doctor, convinced that this was their final parting of ways. The next, she was stalking the streets of London armed with a massive laser gun and pulling at the lapels of a conveniently manufactured replica of Ten, engrossing him in a passionate snogging session. Hellos and goodbyes are practically one and the same for this blonde time traveller. Sherlock and his begrudging part time associate/best friend, John Watson, also enjoy trumping audiences with their short lived goodbyes. After the tragic events at Reichenbach, John spills forth a heartfelt eulogy - a last farewell pleading for one more miracle - before his friend's deserted grave while Sherlock, alive and well, eavesdrops in the shadows. This completely clueless detective later decides to pay a casual visit to the man who, for two years, believed his best friend to be dead.

Anna is an aspiring writer who has an incurable obsession with Doctor Who. When she is not writing about Doctor Who, she's watching favorite episodes and contemplating what to write next. When she's writing about Doctor Who, she anticipates her reward: watching yet another Doctor Who episode. She also manages to read science fiction (especially Ray Bradbury), recite lines from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and make terrible puns in her free time (she likes to imagine she has great puntential, though)
