6. The Season 7 Premiere Complaints

The Season 7 premiere was always going to be a divisive, upsetting episode, given it was going to kill off at least one big character. But ultimately the thing that drew complaints wasn't the choice of character, but rather how violent and gory the instalment was.

It was labelled as "torture porn", and the FCC received a number of complaints - one even compared the show to ISIS (which seems a tad strong).

In response, the producers said that violence would be toned down, and while there have been a couple of different schools of thought on that from those involved, it's clear no one at AMC wants a repeat of that level.
