11 Things AMC Wants You To Forget About The Walking Dead

5. When It Kept Killing Black Characters

This is an issue that the series has had a better handle on in the last couple of years, but for a period was one of the hot topics surrounding the show.

The series has typically had a much greater proportion of white characters than black characters, and just when a new black character was introduced another was killed off. It was especially seen as a bigger issue in the earlier days, when black characters were given little to do before their exit (e.g. T-Dog).

Numerous thinkpieces have been written on the matter, it was routinely criticised from various quarters, and it became - of course - a meme.

Though two of the show's best and most interesting characters at present are black (Michonne and Morgan), and steps have been taken to increase diversity, it's something that AMC would rather be put to bed.
