Poet and inventor John Harrington came up with the flushing loo back in the 1500's, which he sold to Queen Elizabeth I. Kit loves to boast about it, telling everyone who will listen that it's because of this relative that the toilet is nicknamed "The John".
He spoke to Jimmy Kimmel about the ancestral link - which he seems a lot more proud of than his royal links:
“He invented it for her (The Queen), as the story goes, and she made him godson to her, which is quite interesting. She was obviously very grateful.”
