11 TV Moments Everyone Was Waiting For (That Never Happened)

11. The Time War - Doctor Who

When Doctor Who returned to screens back in 2005, it did so with a new bit of backstory: a Time War, fought between the Time Lords of Gallifrey and the Daleks of Skaro.

The revived series dropped a number of mentions to this throughout the first few seasons, but it wasn't until it approached the 50th anniversary special, and the introduction of John Hurt's War Doctor, that it'd really ramp up towards showing it. This was an epic battle between two races, which included a number of monumental events within it - such as the Fall of Arcadia, where the Doctor was present on the frontline - but we never get to properly see it.

Sure, we get the odd glimpse of it in the special, and a few minisodes included a little bit more, but it was nothing compared to what fans dreamt of seeing. Sadly, Doctor Who's budget simply couldn't put on the kind of show people wanted, and it meant The Last Great Time War, the conflict that seemingly wiped both races from existence, could never be truly realised on screen.
