10. House House Operates On His Bad Leg - (Season 7, Episode 22)
I loved House when it first started; Huge Lauries depiction of Sherlock Holmes as a specialist doctor is hilarious and gripping at times. However there was always a fear that such a larger than life character would only grow bigger and bigger in an attempt to appease fans, and the problem with that is that when something swells so big, it undoubtedly bursts. This moment for me is, take a deep breath because this is going to be long; when House decides to operate on his bad leg because he discovers tumours have formed because of an experimental drug he has been using that he stole from the rat testing lab because the drug is a muscle growth stimulant but because House is such an idiot rather than admit to what he has done he decides to try and remove them himself in his home bathroom. Yes you did read that right. Again I could have maybe chosen the more obvious choices like when Cuddy finally warmed to Houses boyish behaviour enough to date him or when he finally overcame his opiate addiction but to me they actually opened up more creative possibilities; changing things and seeing how House can adapt to these new situations. Unfortunately House couldnt adapt to the new life he was living, or the creative couldnt in the least, so House eventually fell off of the wagon, Cuddy dumped him and he wound up trying to do something even more wacky than he did last week, like operating on your own leg! This to me was someone in creative coming up with a shock tactic, something like Guys, I got the perfect idea for House and the fans will be so shocked by it! Theyll never see it coming! We never saw it coming thats true, because it was stupid; even for Greg House! That to me was a lead in for its demise; he then decides to try and kill Cuddy because of his heartbreak at the end of season 7 and because of that I decided I was done with House, as did many fans after that, the 8th season would be the final one.
