11. Friends - Ross And Rachel Have A Baby (Season 9, Episode 1)
Not the most obvious choice for some people, I was certainly torn up until the last knockings; many would argue that the Shark Jumping moment was the end of Season 9 when Rachel and Joey got together. Now whilst I do agree that was a big mistake, for me that was more of a final straw breaking the camels back than someone jumping over the big fish; Rachel and Joey as characters are almost identical to each other which doesnt really create any interesting story telling, needless to say the writing staff were either thinking the same thing or they just listened to the fan outcry because within 3 episodes of the next season the trigger was pulled on the relationship. This was more of a final nail in the coffin scenario, what I personally think started Friends decline (knowingly or subconsciously) was the end of Season 8 and beginning of Season 9; when Rachel gives birth to Emma. That whole situation, right down to how they got pregnant to me was such a fuster cluck of writing that I didnt know whether to laugh or cry, I chose cry; I didnt want to give creative any encouragement. Sure condom companies do put on their packets that they are only effect 99% of the time or something like that but I can assure that is more to do with liability just in the off chance they do fail, the likelihood of that actually happening is very slim. Even then when a girl does fall pregnant it is usually because of a split or the condom coming off, them just failing seems like the beginning of a religious propaganda film, you can almost imagine the amnesty ring crusaders taking the stage saying And thats why, kids, we should all wait until we are married until we have sex. Then we have the birth, after a stupid skit where Rachel thinks Joey wants to marry her Ross decides once again to not pursue things with Rachel just because he doesnt wanna be just anybody. Sorry What Culture guys, get your censors out: b******t! Ross and Rachel have arguably been in love with each other for the whole run of Friends, yes they broke up for a legitimate reason but the reason they stayed apart was something akin to schoolyard antics; this situation is a perfect scenario to set them two back up as a couple again. However it seems the writers decided to insult our intelligence and write a sloppy excuse for Ross to not ask Rachel to get back with him AFTER THEY JUST HAD A BABY TOGETHER! PFFFT!
