11 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

3. The Walking Dead

The announcement of The Walking Dead's impending conclusion was divisive, to say the least. On one hand, it wasn't all that surprising because the show's heydays were long over, but on the other, it felt like it was finally beginning to move forward again after spending years stuck in the same place.

But the upcoming 11th and final season won't mark the end for The Walking Dead Universe - quite the opposite, in fact. The franchise - which already consists of ongoing offshoots Fear The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and the long-teased Rick Grimes movies - will now spawn a direct spin-off based on Carol and Daryl and another offshoot that will tell a bunch of standalone tales in the post-apocalyptic setting.

This feels like something of an unnecessary attempt to freshen up the aged franchise because, while we're all excited to see what Carol and Daryl get up to next, the idea of a spin-off focusing on the two leads of the main series does sound a little jarring when they could have just continued that series instead.

Nonetheless, the parent show may be ending, but the Tales of The Walking Dead have only just begun...
