11 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

'Cancelled' is probably too extreme a term considering that Supergirl just won't be returning after its upcoming offering comes to an end. That said, when you consider how popular it is, the announcement of its impending conclusion is quite unexpected. At least it is right now.

The truth is that Supergirl is one of the Arrowverse's longest-running shows and has enjoyed immense success over the last five years (its first season boasts the 20 most-watched Arrowverse episodes ever, admittedly on a different Network), but it wasn't going to be on the air forever. And yet, fans still expected it to go one or two more seasons at least - especially because they're all craving the familiarity after Arrow ended last year.

However, with all of the delays that production on Season 6 has experienced and the fact that the cast were reportedly contracted for only six seasons, the decision was made by the producers and Melissa Benoist herself to end the show with a bumper final season instead.

Here's hoping Supergirl goes out on the high she deserves!
