12 Anime That Make You Root For The Villain
11. Terror In Resonance - Nine & Twelve
Terror in Resonance is an underrated gem that really challenges you. You might hear that and think, "Nah, I'm pretty tough", but have you ever seen a show that makes you actively root for terrorists to succeed in their plans? No, didn't think so.
The series follows a girl called Lisa who gets embroiled in the mission of two young men (named Nine & Twelve). These boys are more than average high-schoolers, as they are orphaned kids who attempt to bring Japan to a standstill by setting off bombs and forcing the police to answer riddles.
Naturally, this makes the series difficult to watch, as while their actions seem deplorable, you can't help but root for them. The pair are so charming as Nine's calm demeanour makes him cool as a cucumber, and Twelve's boyishness is effortlessly likeable. The more you sit with them, the more you come to empathise with the duo, which makes it all the weirder when you remember that they're terrorists.
Of course, as the show progresses, you come to learn their motives and the truth behind their actions, with eases the blow quite significantly. Still, while they are protagonists in the story, their actions make them seem like villains.
