If The Leftovers is the most direct replacement for Game of Thrones in terms of network and timeslot, then American Gods is the series successor in terms of fantasy and scope.

Based on Neil Gaiman's epic novel, American Gods is a roadtrip across the U.S. and a journey into a world of Gods.

When ex-con Shadow Moon gets early release from prison after learning that his wife Laura has died (sort of), he enters into the employ of the enigmatic Mr Wednesday. From there, he's unwittingly thrust into the heart of an impending war between old Gods (such as Odin) and new ones (like Media and Technology).

The first season is expected to cover around 1/3 of the book, with some additional material as well. It comes from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (Logan), and the starry cast is headlined by Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane, alongside the likes of Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Gillian Anderson, and Orlando Jones.

Premiere Date: April 30
