12 Best 2000s TV Dramas We've All Been Glued To

1. Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

All hail the king: Walter White. Breaking Bad is the most consistently fantastic show of this millennium; there is not a weak link in its 62-episode run. The writers raised the ante every season and the payoff was brilliant each time. This show features incredible acting, directing, writing, cinematography, and editing that work in concert to create a strikingly realised world. Bryan Cranston's Walter White and Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman are magnificently and sincerely portrayed. The show also features incredible performances by Anna Gunn as Skyler White, Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, and Dean Norris as Hank Schrader. Breaking Bad is a landmark television series and its chronicle of one man's descent into the unstable world of meth is unmatched. Whereas The Wire is a sprawling cross-section of civilisation, Breaking Bad is a highly focused character exploration. The show perfected the slow burn and volatile release of tension-filled story arcs. The show was famous for its experimentation with episode structures and inventive camera angles. It also featured tremendous song choices to match the action on screen and a pulse-pounding musical score. I have never, ever seen a show that got exponentially better each season and ended its run on such a tremendous high. If you haven't seen this show yet, start now. That's it, the best television dramas of this millennium. Which of your favourites did I gleefully snub? Pelt fruit at me in the comments!
