The Governor is probably the greatest out-and-out villain in The Walking Dead. There've been plenty of unsavoury characters, foes, and obstacles along the way, including a band of cannibals, yet The Governor made more of an impact that them all. He was a lasting enemy, and proved to be a genuine threat, rather than a damp squib. David Morrissey's performance was so effective as he could flip between Philip Blake, leader of the Woodbury community, and The Governor, tyrannical commander, at any moment. He came across as a genuine man in both instances, and handled the scenes with his walker daughter very well, along with his brutal action sequences.
