12 Best Animated Superhero TV Shows Of All Time

It's hard to even think about the '60s Spider-Man cartoon without that iconic theme tune popping into your head, and that's just an example of how the show (or parts of it at least) has stood the test of time. Sure, certain elements of it are dated by today's standards, but a lot of Spidey's 67 adventures still hold up when compared to its modern day counterparts.

The first ever animated series involving Marvel's wall-crawler, it had almost all of the elements you'd expect to see in any of today's adaptations, as it followed the double life of Peter Parker as he attempted to make the demands of high school go hand-in-hand with photography duties at the Daily Bugle as well his late-night escapades as a costumed crime-fighter.

It's unfortunate that budget cuts saw the second and third season drift further and further from the source material, because those first 20 episodes were pretty in line with the comic books. But in spite of its decline, there's no overlooking how revolutionary it was to the world of superhero animation and we can all be eternally grateful to it for spawning a very catchy theme tune and one of the internet's most famous memes.
