12 Best Character Arcs In The Walking Dead
2. Carol Peletier
If you were to look up the word "tragic" in the dictionary, chances are you'd find a picture of Carol Peletier. At first, Carol seemed to be the ultimate background character, an abused woman who was far from ready for the threats the new world posed. After the death of her husband, she lost her daughter Sophia and began to toughen up.
Forming a sweet, everlasting bond with Daryl Dixon, she started to do whatever was necessary for the survival of herself and her friends. She bottled up her feelings, took bold action to stop impending disaster at the prison, and eventual found herself exiled from the group. When she reconciled with them, Carol was more capable and badass than ever.
Over the next few seasons, her bond with Daryl grew stronger, but she began to question herself and ran away from the group, trying to settle down to a quiet life. Though war and death eventually brought her back, and despite ending her marriage and losing her son, Carol has consistently been one of the most complex and endearing characters on the show - and she still has a ways to go in terms of her overarching story.
