12 Best Character Arcs In The Walking Dead

10. Morgan Jones

Maggie The Walking Dead
AMC

Though it's fair to say that Morgan Jones had his arc milked half to death over his sporadic tenure on The Walking Dead, there's no denying that at its core his was a deep and complex story. He was first encountered in the first-ever episode, saving Rick from walkers and filling him in about the end of the world.

He appeared again in season three, having lost his mind following the death of his son, Duane. Having built a fortress in the middle of town, he was found once more by Rick, who left him behind when Morgan refused to take part in Rick's war against The Governor. Later, having learned from a man called Eastman that all life is precious and killing is never justified, he head out to find Rick.

Once he found his old friend, their approaches to life clashed and caused some great drama, but during the war against Negan he began to kill again and had a crisis of faith. Desperate to start over, he left Rick once more when the war was over, and became a main character on the show's spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, where his compelling arc has continued stronger than ever.
