Slightly predictable but it's safe to say that there's no other Doctor Who moment in 2014 which managed to cause as much simultaneous elation and controversy as this one. Whether you loved or loathed Missy's reveal as the Master, it deserves to top this list solely on the basis that it single handedly ripped the stratosphere of the Doctor Who fandom apart. As such it will no doubt be defined as the most memorable moment of the year - even if it is for the wrong reasons. After Missy's string of appearances throughout Series 8, fans were on tenterhooks when the time came for her to finally announce her identity to the Doctor and the world. Many had already guessed that she'd be this renegade Time Lord though some were unhappy that certain other ones were't given a look in. Despite the upset it caused, you can't deny that Missy's behaviour in Death in Heaven left nothing to the imagination and this version of the Doctor's arch nemesis is just as ludicrously bananas as she claims to be. She was by no means a predominant figure in this year's series but she managed to steal the show whenever she was on screen and that's no mean feat when you're performing alongside acting royalty such as Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman. Michelle Gomez has managed to make the role her own and her inclusion in the finale felt like it was setting her story up for the much darker things to come. She's coming back in Series 9 and something tells us it will be with an almighty vengeance. So, Missy's reveal in Dark Water is our most memorable Doctor Who moment of 2014! Is it yours? What else will you be taking away from the Doctor's adventures this year? Leave your memories in the comments below.
