5. Throw Away The Keys (Dark Water)
OK, so as it turns out none of this scene actually happened (a bit like Last Christmas, actually, there's definitely a pattern emerging here...) but that doesn't diminish its excellence. Losing a loved one can take you to a pretty dark place and in Dark Water a grief-stricken Clara Oswald was pushed to her emotional limits as she struggled to come to terms with the untimely demise of Danny Pink. It must've been even harder for her to accept seeing as he got hit by a car whilst he was talking to her. The poor girl must've been dealing with all kinds of feels. Clara has saved the Doctor her fair share of times throughout his many lives, of course, so you can't blame her for thinking he owed her this one. She demanded he go back in time and save her beloved or so help her God he would never step foot in his TARDIS again. To show she meant serious business, she stole all of his spare keys and threw them dramatically into a volcano. As mentioned, grief does weird things. Even though this was all occurring in Clara's induced dream state, the chemistry between Peter and Jenna is at its all time hottest here - and not just because they're surrounded by fire. As such, it's not only one of 2014's most memorable moments but one of the Doctor and Clara's defining moments to date. There's still more to come from the dynamic due next year, of course, but it would have to be something pretty special to top this.
