12 Characters Once Upon A Time Wants You To Forget About

10. Sidney Glass/Genie/Magic Mirror

Sidney Glass made his first appearance in the second episode of season one as a reporter for Storybrooke's local paper, as well as Regina's Magic Mirror in the past. Oh, and let's not forget that, before becoming trapped in the mirror, he had been the Genie of Agrabah. For all intents and purposes, Giancarlo Esposito had a pretty sweet spot as a character who had a great reason to be showing up left and right in past and present. But then Esposito was snapped up by NBC's Revolution and season two came and went with only minor reference to Glass being locked up underneath the town's hospital by Regina. In season three, Esposito managed to make brief -- and we mean brief -- flashback appearances as the Mirror and as Glass, albeit voice-only for the latter, before disappearing yet again, with no explanation of what exactly had been going on with poor, locked-up Glass since season one. Even further, after all the fairytale characters return home in the midseason finale of the third season, the Mirror is still never seen or heard from again. And then, on top of all that, when all the characters return back to Storybrooke, Glass continues to stay missing. While his absence can at least be explained off-camera by Esposito's role on Revolution, it doesn't explain why no character has ever seemed to notice his seemingly-permanent absence or why the reformed Regina seen in the second half of season three never freed him. With Revolution now cancelled, we may see Glass show up again, but at this point, the show seems to be banking on the fact that, if the characters have forgotten about him, hopefully the audience has, too.
