12 Critically Reviled Sci-Fi TV Shows (That Weren't Actually That Bad)
11. Tripping The Rift
Raunchier, darker, and more satirically pointed than its prettier and more critically beloved cousin Futurama, Tripping the Rift nonetheless managed to eke out a three-season run which, whilst nothing extraordinary, certainly beats its CGI animated sitcom competitors of the same year.
Where the likes of Father of the Pride and Game Over struggled to find an audience for their family-based antics, the more adult offerings of Tripping the Rift gained a small but solid cult audience that stuck with the show despite critical derision due to its, er, singular art style.
Too filthy for mainstream love, the show even managed to cobble together a movie in 2008 post-cancelation composed of plots cut from unfinished episodes. Ingenuity, gross-out noughties humour, pre-Rick and Morty dark sci-fi satire—this show had it all, for viewers whose sense of humour was dark enough and stomach was sufficiently strong.
