10. Gabriel's Sins
When Father Gabriel Stokes was introduced in the show's fifth season, he was nothing more than a slippery and secretive coward who was clearly hiding something about his past. Despite Rick trying to get him to spill the beans, Gabriel was tight-lipped. That was, until a run to a local store that ended with him seeing the reanimated corpse of an old friend.
Eventually, Gabriel broke. After the disease struck and the world was plunged into chaos, the priest locked the doors of his church in fear and simply stood by and listened as his parish was torn apart and chased off outside. One of them left a note on the side of the church: "You'll burn for this."
It was a fairly shocking revelation, allowing the show to lean into its strengths of showing just how dark and twisted people can be when pushed into unfathomable situations. Luckily, Gabriel has atoned for his sins, and is currently one of the very best characters on the show.
