12 DC Characters Who Were Wasted In The Arrowverse
10. Doctor Light
For the uninitiated, there are two major characters named Doctor Light in DC Comics. Firstly, there's the villainous Dr. Arthur Light, then there's the heroic Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi. Both characters have strong histories in the comics, yet the Arrowverse has used them in some pretty weird, mismatched ways.
First, Arthur Light was namedropped by Caitlin Snow in her debut appearance back in Season Two of Arrow. Then we got our first Doctor Light proper (kinda) in Season Two of The Flash, where she was an Asian-American woman, similar to the Japanese Dr. Hoshi, but was actually the villainous Earth-2 counterpart to Barry Allen's one-time girlfriend Linda Park.
Finally, in The Flash's sixth season, we got the actual Kimiyo Hoshi version of the character, only rather than the heroic scientist of the comics, she was an assassin working for the criminal organisation, Black Hole. It's beyond mortal comprehension why the gods of the Arrowverse seem so determined to use Hoshi and characters based on her as villains, when they already have a villainous Doctor Light available for use. What's more, in an age where diversity has become a hot issue in the arts, you'd think a powerful, comic-accurate Japanese female hero would be an easy pick for adaptation.
Sadly though, it seems that this version of Doctor Light is destined to have her good name tarnished by the Arrowverse, while her evil predecessor barely even warrants a mention.
