12 Dumb Decisions In Friends We Can't Forgive

6. Ross Disapproved Of The Male Nanny

The world has changed a lot, not only since Friends began, but since it ended as well. There are certain aspects, even in the later seasons, that have simply not aged very well, and unfortunately, many of them pertain to Ross' character.

As late as season nine, after Emma was born, her parents decided to hire a nanny to look after her during the day. At first, Ross was just aware that this nanny was called Sandy, that they had an impressive list of qualifications, and had no problem until he realised that they were actually a man.

From then on, he felt incredibly uncomfortable any time he was around Sandy, and even looked down on him and questioned his sexuality based on nothing more than his choice of occupation. Despite the fact that Sandy was smart, qualified, and seemingly a great fit for the job, Ross stubbornly persisted with his view that hiring a male nanny would be 'weird'.

As said before, flaws are to be expected in any given character, but Ross' start to really build up. In his view, only women should look after children, and men aren't even allowed to bake certain types of cookies. Seriously, how did this guy have so many friends?!
