12 Fictional TV Locations It'd Blow Your Mind to Visit

10. The White House (The West Wing)

the west wing You know the old saying that the type of people who enter politics are generally exactly the type of people who should be kept out of politics? Well, not so in this idealistic, staunchly liberal take on America's most high-profile political institute. The building itself, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is the much the same as what we'd recognize, though people around it tend to do a lot more walk-and-talk (almost as if they need need to convey exposition in a visually dynamic way). In any case, if you're visiting during either of President Bartlet's two terms in office - and why would you go at any other time? - you'll certainly be impressed by the caliber of human being on display. They may be neurotic, self-obsessed or otherwise grouchy (looking at you here, White House Communications Director Toby Ziegler), but you'll also find them to be charming, intelligent and well-intentioned - all of them want what's best for the country and the world. They make mistakes (like pissing off voters in Oregon by admitting the President doesn't like green beans or trying to conceal their Commander-in-Chief's serious medical condition from the general public), but there's an unmistakeable integrity to them, even if they do rather like the sound of their own voices (Josh Lyman especially). It might be somewhat rose-tinted, Jimmy Stewart-esquetake on American politics, but, whatever your beliefs, damned if isn't better than what we're all getting.
