8. The Spider-Sense - I, Robot... You, Jane

spider-sense Another episode from season one of Buffy now - "I, Robot... You, Jane". When Willow scans an ancient book in to a computer, it releases a demon on to the internet - Moloch the Corruptor. Moloch pretends to be a boy called Malcolm and woos Willow online, whilst also manipulating students in to killing Buffy. When one of the students, Dave, starts acting suspiciously, Buffy follows him to a building. She sees it has the initials "CRD" on it and the following conversation follows... Rupert Giles: "What was the name of this place?" Buffy Summers: "It said CRD. But, I couldn't get close enough to see what it was." Xander Harris: "Calax Research and Development. It's a computer research lab. Third largest employer in Sunnydale till it closed down last year (gets stares from the others). What, I can't have information sometimes?" Rupert Giles: "Well, it-it's just somewhat unprecedented." Xander Harris: "Well, my uncle used to work there. I-in a floor sweeping capacity." Buffy Summers: "But it closed?" Xander Harris: "Uh-huh." Buffy Summers: "Looked pretty functional from where I stood. I don't have a clue what they were doing." Xander Harris: "And what do they need Dave for?" Buffy Summers: "Something about computers, right? I mean, he is off-the-chart smart." Rupert Giles: "We still don't know an enormous amount. Whatever is going on there may be on the up-and-up." Xander Harris: "No, if CRD opened, it would've been on the news." Buffy Summers: "Besides, I can just tell something's wrong. My spider-sense is tingling." Rupert Giles: "Your... spider-sense?" Buffy Summers: "Pop culture reference. Sorry." The spider-sense, of course, refers to the power possessed by the Marvel Comics favourite, Spider-Man, which alerts him to anything dangerous that is about to occur.
