12 Great Sci-Fi TV Shows The World Forgot

1. Survivors

The Langoliers
BBC

Starring The Next Generation's Carolyn Seymour, the underrated BBC hit Survivors imagined a world trying to rebuild after a devastating apocalypse wipes out almost all of humanity a solid two decades before the small screen played host to an adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand.

More realistic and less supernatural but no less ambitious in scope than that later series, this somehow forgotten BBC production was released way back in 1975 and predicted many of the tropes which have come to define post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama on TV since, from The Stand to The Walking Dead.

There were scant survivors trying to find family, rebuild society, and coexist, as well as dramatic twists and struggles to trust one another, and the show remains an essential piece of this tv sub genre's history despite being all but forgotten now.
