Nobody could have guessed that Alex Kingston would go onto leave such a lasting legacy in the Doctor Who mythology when she was introduced as the enigmatic River Song during Series 4's Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead two-parter. Cut to 2014, though, and she's the Doctor's wife who was conceived aboard the TARDIS by his newlywed companions, Amy and Rory, before being kidnapped at birth to be raised as a psychopathic killer who would one day murder her future husband in the guise of an impossible astronaut. Did anybody else prefer it when we didn't know who she was?! Still, there was a distinct lack of River in the last series (yes, she's dead - but that's never stopped her returning before!) but there's plenty of Alex Kingston to go around. The actress can be seen in the hit US series Arrow as Dinah Drake Lance, otherwise known as the Black Canary, but you'll just have to tune in for yourself to find out what tricks her character's got up her sleeve.
