12 Moments That Have Defined The Last Decade Of Doctor Who
12. Missy Revealed (Dark Water)
Here she is! Our countdown of iconic NuWho moments is kicking off with this scene from last year's Series 8 finale which proved, amongst many other things, that Doctor Who still possess the ability to shock us. It's safe to say that speculation about Missy's true identity had been rife since her first appearance at the end of the Series 8 premiere, Deep Breath, and, by the time her grand reveal finally arrived, every name under the sun - and the some - had been thrust in her direction. And guess what? She isn't the Rani. She's certainly a renegade Time Lord in her own right, however, as she chose the perfect moment - that is, in the middle of a Cyberman invasion, naturally - to drop one of the biggest bombshells in Doctor Who history. "Well, I couldn't keep calling myself the Master now, could I?" And thus the stratosphere of the Doctor Who fandom was ripped apart. Hell, even those that had already sussed out who she was couldn't stop themselves falling off their seats when the cat was well and truly let out of the bag. It was one of those moments that none of us saw coming - except everybody totally did - and it is sure to go down in TV history as the first time such an iconic character has returned as a different gender. This is unfortunately the only iconic moment featuring the Twelfth Doctor moment on the list but he's relatively brand new. He's still got time!
